Top 5 World Problems

Most to Least Seriousness
  1. Global terrorism
  2. Availability of energy
  3. Pollution
  4. Political instability
  5. Climate change
I ranked global terrorism at the top because personally, I think national security is the biggest concern in our lives as well as the up most importance for our government. Also, right now, global terrorism is very high with many recent and large attacks. For the rest of the list, I chose these other four because the mainly run along the lines of the environment and global political instability. I find the environment to be very important as I cherish my times out in nature, which is why it would be such a shame for it to be destroyed with our energy crisis and pollution causing dramatic climate change. Then, political stability can cause global terrorism which is why I think that political instability needs to be a big focus as it also leads to many other harmful things.

Most-Possible to Implement to Least-Possible to Implement
  1. Pollution
  2. Climate change
  3. Lack of drinking water
  4. Global terrorism
  5. Overpopulation
I ranked pollution as my most possible global problem to implement a solution for because I think it can be decreased if we use more renewable energy sources as well as having stricter rules in production with cleanliness and guidelines at big factories and other places. I think this can be done the easiest out of all of mine because simple guidelines can be put in place for these things to be accomplished. I think climate change can't be changed quickly, but I think it can be fixed if we decrease our reliance on energy sources such as oil and coal which produce harmful gases. I think overpopulation can be solved if you put a limit on children, although I can't decide how ethical that is. Then, a lack of drinking water can be solved if we have a global focus of countries try to help provide for these poor, nutrient-enriched countries which I think is possible. Global terrorism can't necessarily be solved completely, but I think it can be diminished if we form a giant group of alliances and surround the enemies until they give up, which I think can be done if we put in a practical plan. I think overpopulation can be solved if you put a limit on children, although I can't decide how ethical that is, which is why it's last on my list of implementation chances.

  1. James, I think you did a great job of identifying some of the top world issues and their solutions. I also listed the availability of energy, lack of drinking water, and pollution in my top rankings, with pollution as the most possible to implement a solution for. I agree that if some further guidelines were put into affect and everyone were to do their part for the environment, there would not be such an issue of pollution in the world. The world is a beautiful place, and as its inhabitants we should WANT to take care of it and preserve its natural resources.

If you would like to check out my rankings as well, here is the link to my post: http://marissaent3003.blogspot.com/2016/01/what-i-believe-to-be-top-5-world.html

Hope you're having a great semester!

  2. Hi James.
I also would say that pollution is the most solvable problem on your list. Stricter restrictions across the world must be put in place and ENFORCED. It seems like there are so many countries that have laws put in place, but money takes precedence over safety, ecosystem, or both. I hope that this problem is solved during our lifetimes, as it will directly effect many of the other problems on your list too!
